Final Boards

These are the final boards that i am going to submit for hand in:

This is my impact board. i wanted it to be large and eye catching but still show the full product range and the detailing that they are constructed with.

This board shows the fedrigoni info book. i have used close up shots of the type aswell as the detailing in the stitching to show. I also played with having a full page landscape image to break up the four smaller ones. i think it works really well.

Here i have used a similar layout to the previous board but messed around with the layout so that it breaks it up but still keeps the boards consistent. Using the same close up shot technique to give the full visualization of the calender book i think gives the board a fully rounded portrayal of the book.

Keeping with the same grid i have used for the previous boards i have gone with more large scale impact images for the invite. The images give a clear indication of the product and what it contains and how it will be seen. I think it is simple but effective and portrays the ideas clearly.

Tied off

I have no completed the Fedrigoni book by tying it off to seal the packaging. i am really happy with the final resolution and the process in which the book took on. it was well worth the time and effort to finish properly.

Finishing touches

To tie off the packaging side of things i have deigned to knot it off with some distressed twine that i came across a while ago and kept as i thought it would make a nice little feature detail for finishing this book off.

Final packaging

Just adding the finishing touches to the book. i have got hold of a really nice stock called dragon tail. it is made up form really fine feather and paper. I managed to print the Fedrigoni label onto it just brand it and then tie it off with some distressed string to keep with the rough, rouged feel and texture.

Section dry run

Now that all the pages and section overlays have been cut out, with very close to perfect accuracy i have laid them out into their section to make sure all the pages are in the correct orders before i take it to stitch.

Section overlay

Now i have just finished cutting all the pages out i went on to cut out the section overlays that divide the contents of the book. The overlay over the corresponding image adds an extra quality of feel and splits up the layout of plain type on an image which i personally think would not of worked looking at the previous layouts.

I am really pleased with how the overlays have come out and work with the image on the corresponding stocks. At first i was abit hesitant to use the trace stock as i thought it would not fit in with the rest of the stock used, but now i can see it together and touch it i am happy with the resolution.

Front cover

I have just printed and cut out the front cover for the fedrigoni history book. I have gone for a much heavier rough textured stock to that of the contents pages. The reasoning behind this is create the feel of the bark of the tree to integrate with the photography. Th idea is that the front and back cover is the outside of the tree (bark) and inside is the history, represented by the rigs of its life span.

Colouring in

At first i was rather unsure weather or not the stock would hold a heavy amount of colour concentrated on a certain area, i have visions of it bleeding through or not taking at all. But all those fears and worries have been set aside because as the photo below the imagery have come out rather well and still hold a decent amount of detail.

Over all i am happy with the way they have come out. All that is left is to cut and sew.

Just keep cutting

I have started the task of cutting each page out individually armed with nothing but a craft knife, a metal ruler and my patience. i know the task at hand seems tedious to some but i am willing to put the time and effort in as i feel it will provide a more stronger final resolution.

I am slowly getitng there. because the paper is really light i am finding it cuts rather easily, allowing me to focus more on the control and straightness rather than having to apply pressure to cut cleanly

Finally printed

I have just got all the A1 sheets printed with all my pages. I now have the long task of cutting each individual page out by hand. i have chosen to do this by hand because i do not trust any other form of cutting device that is available to me. The guillotine is crooked, and the laser cutters don't cut straight either. I feel that i am in control of it all and i am willing to take the time meticulously cutting them all out for the pure fact i know they are all exactly to size.
